Even if you don't speak the language(s) well, or at all.
You’re here because you are a mum who deeply desires to help your children start speaking their mother tongue(s).
You might be feeling a big, painful, and confusing gap between what you envision for your children in this area of their lives, and what is currently happening, even though you're able to make a lot happen for them in other areas of their lives.
Disappointed that you find it easier to speak to your children in English when you want to hurry up and get things done, other than having to pause to think about how to say things in the mother tongue, and explain everything you say all the time.
Stuck because of not knowing where to start, whether to start now, or when they are older, or even which mother tongue to teach. So you keep promising yourself that you'll start but you're not starting.
Frustrated because you have a lot going on in your life right now so you're not able to prioritize helping your children learn their mother tongue, even though it's something you really want to do.
Worried that exposing your children to different languages at once will confuse them, and/or delay their speech.
Secretly afraid that your mother tongue might die with you and your generation, and you fear for what the future holds when your children are the elders of society but know nothing about their language and culture.
If you've said YES to any of these, you are what I like to call a "Culturally Awakening Mum". You can sense that we're in a time in the history of our world where Africa is going through a season of restoration. You can also sense that in this season, your children's mother tongue and unique culture will unlock much bigger opportunities for their future, even though you're not yet sure exactly how it will happen.
What if I told you that what you sense is real, and this season was predicted many years ago? Would you believe me? I'll be sharing abit more about that shortly.
My name is Akiiki Praise, also known as The Mums' Mother Tongue Coach.
I help busy mums who deeply desire to help their children start speaking their mother tongue(s), to go from feeling alone, inadequate, and overwhelmed to feeling supported, confident, and accomplished, as they become able to easily help their children start speaking their mother tongue(s) straight away, deeply appreciating it, and wanting to pass it on to the next generation, even if the mums don't speak the language(s) well or at all.
I went from being ashamed of speaking "vernacular", and deeply depressed about not knowing how or when to help my children start speaking their mother tongue(s)...
To now comfortably speaking local languages imperfectly, teaching my children to love speaking them too, and to have a deep appreciation for their heritage.
My first degree is in Journalism, and I have since gone on to become a Certified Homeschool Educator and Transformational Workshop Facilitator.
I am the creator of "The Intergenerational Wisdom Method", a unique Bible-based approach I have developed over a decade of personal research, which addresses the invisible barriers that stop African people from embracing our rich African identity, and offers mums a simple way to inspire their children to use their mother tongue(s) in their everyday lives.
I am also a mother of three.
I am on track to reach 10,000 Mums by 2030, to impact countless children and communities through the Mums I serve, and to transform the process of creating the future of our world.
My children are also mastering the art and science of decoding the wisdom within their mother tongue(s), and using it to deepen their imagination and personal creativity, as an anchor for their education.
You might think that the problem is that you don't have enough time, resources, or support, but this experience isn't a result of any personal failure on your part.
The deeper problem I've come to find through my work and experience in this area is that our children have not learnt how to use their mother tongue(s) in their everyday lives. In other words, you don't have a time, resources, or support problem, you have a USAGE PROBLEM.
We've been trained by western education to think that that learning happens in a classroom environment that is disconnected from our everyday lives, many times with a professional teacher who has no part in our personal lives, around a fixed lesson plan that isn't tailored to our personal lives. So we're thinking that we need to teach our children their mother tongue(s) in this same way. As a result, we're separating the use of our children's mother tongue(s) from their everyday lives. This tells us and our children that their language has no meaningful connection to their everyday lives, so they see no use in learning it and we become doubtful about teaching it.
So unless we make a shift in how we're teaching, or thinking about teaching, our children their mother tongue, it's likely that they won't see the purpose of learning it, and change will likely not be possible.
There's a revolution happening in the global Afrikan world. We're living in a new stage of the history of the Afrikan world where as a people, we're coming out of the colonization phase of our recent history, and re-entering the Nationbuilding phase of our ongoing history. As mums who are waking up to this new stage, our values are changing. We no longer just want our children to acquire theoretical academic knowledge and general life skills.
... by weaving it through the experiences and people that are present in our children’s everyday lives. In a deeply personal way that is structured yet flexible, and academic yet social, and even delightful.
As a result, your children will start speaking their mother tongue(s) straight away, deeply appreciating it, and wanting to pass it on to the next generation, even if you don't speak the language(s) well, or at all.
Your children will experience it in a way that feels deeply personal to them.
They will begin to see its true value in their lives and to appreciate it deeply.
They will take risks to speak it and therefore learn it faster.
They will naturally desire to pass it on to the next generation.
This is possible even if you don't speak the language(s) well, or at all.
Studies show that when students learn by actively doing, discussing, and thinking about what they're learning, they talk 13 times more than when they're passively being lectured. They also have greater confidence in expressing ideas, and are 2 times more likely to use the skills they've learnt in their everyday life.
This African-Centered approach also expands their exposure to their larger culture, as everyday life naturally brings them into experiences and ideas they may have never found in a classroom setting, and their personal creativity leads them to think in directions that would have been suffocated by a detached fixed lesson plan.
This why I have created a program titled...
Easily Weave it Into Their Day
Step into an even bigger vision for your children's future
Breakthrough any unconscious beliefs that may have been holding you back in this area
Become the "you" that you sense you are on the inside in your clearest moments
Tap into your unique wisdom, natural gifts, and priceless cultural knowledge.
Magnetize the support you need to make the biggest difference in this area of your child's life.
Uncover the thing at which your child has the potential to be among the best in the world.
Jump around if you need to, and join our private online group of amazing mums who are walking this journey with you and celebrating your success.
... and my one on one coaching work with mums on this topic, to create a step by step method that addresses the invisible barriers that stop African people from embracing our rich African identity, and offers mums a simple way to inspire their children to use their mother tongue(s) in their everyday lives. This is the difference that make the difference.
Unstoppable because you can finally make a plan and stick to it, since you're able to clarify your vision, and have clear easy actionable steps that you can put into practice straight away to be intentional and consistent within your current situation.
Energized because you're able to navigate this process smoothly with your husband and be more deliberate about how to move forward, even if you are from different tribes or he was not so keen on the process at first.
Relieved that you're not the center of attention in teaching your children their mother tongue, because your extended family and others around you are supporting you in your vision, and being intentional about speaking the mother tongue with and around the children, thereby helping you teach them.
Peace of mind in knowing that when we and our parents are gone, our children won't be out there lost in the world, they will know who they are.
These are the kind of results mums have received from working with me in this method.
Like Alice who went from feeling like there was no hope for this area of her life, to being able to take immediate action, which has made her daughter excited to learn KiMaralogi (her mother tongue) and want to speak it with confidence by December.
And Maryanne who went from having given up on this area of her life, to seeing that her children could easily learn not just one mother tongue, but two.
And Betty who went from not knowing where to start and doubting if this was even important, to getting a clear vision and the confidence to start what she calls a “very exciting” journey.
And Olivia who went from feeling like it was too late to do anything about this area of her children’s lives, to gaining the knowledge to maximize what she was already doing, and the courage to try what she already knew she needed to do.
These are some of the results mums have received after working with me for just one session — how much more can we achieve in just 12 weeks?
Now, let me show you exactly how we’ll do this together:

Languages are disappearing fast. According to UNESCO, a language disappears forever from our planet every two weeks on average, together with the knowledge it contains.
You and I, our generation is what I call "The Bridge Generation". We have the most experience of both the African traditional world and the modern world. Our parents can't say they understand the modern world the way we do, and our children can't say they understand the traditional world the way we do.
We are best positioned to link these two worlds together.
"When an elder dies, a library burns to the ground."
Unless we make this SHIFT now while we and our elders are still alive, Africa could lose the innovative wisdom our fathers and mothers took centuries to develop. Our children could lose their inheritance, and have no choice but to become beggars and labourers in the global market. This is already starting to happen.
As a Culturally Awakening Mum, you know your children's future success depends on bringing NEW ideas into the world. The wisdom inside your children's mother tongue and culture is one of the few things that is truly new to the modern world.
Their unique identity and creativity will make these ideas even more powerful.
In a world moving towards rewarding creativity and originality, your children's mother tongue — and the knowledge it contains — will set them apart for generations to come.
They will be empowered to transform the future in ways we can't yet even imagine.
We are The Bridge Generation. We have the power to create this BIG opportunity and leave an inheritance for our children and their children. This is why I do this work. This is why we must do it together.
There are only 4 spots left to join the program. This is the only time I will open it this year, and the only time it will be available at this price.

Real transformations from mothers who've taken this journey...
After one coaching call
"There wasn't much intentionality going on in the area of helping my children learn their mother tongue. After our conversation (with Akiiki), I saw the possibility of my children not just learning one mother tongue but two. Thank you so much Akiiki."
After one coaching call
"Been trying to teach my kids a little KiMaralogi, but after the conversation (with Akiiki) I realized I can do so much with so little. We did some of that today, and my daughter is keen and wants to speak with confidence by December."
After one coaching call
"I felt like there was no solution because I don’t know the language, and the children were growing up and getting set in their ways. I thought that it was no longer possible. But after our conversation (with Akiiki) I came to realize that there’s still hope. I feel I can do it, I can do something about it. It was such and enlightenment and encouragement, thank you."
1. Can you teach my child their specific language?
If I am not part of your child’s personal everyday life, then me teaching them their language will not help them start speaking it straight away. Part of what I do is show you a lasting way to easily weave any local language(s) you want them to speak into their day, which will help them start speaking it straight away, deeply appreciating it, and wanting to pass it on to the next generation. Even if you don’t speak the language(s) well, or at all.
2. I'm so busy and don't have much time, can I do this?
I felt the same way too, but when I made this SHIFT, I went from feeling overwhelmed and deeply depressed about having no time to work on this area of my life. Now, I’m able to find plenty of time within the already existing routines of my everyday life. I don’t have to wait for the perfect time anymore, while painfully watching my children grow up and become more set in their ways. The truth is that there’s never a perfect time. The demands of everyday life never end, especially for us mums. How much more time are you willing to tolerate losing by staying stuck and not knowing where to start? How many more weeks, month, years? That could be a helpful perspective to hold here. We have the power to make time for the things that we know are important to the bigger picture of our lives, our families, and our lineages.
3. I can't afford this.
A helpful way to think about this question could be, “How might I afford this?” Reframing it like this puts us in a creative state of mind, where we can find solutions to the problems that are in the way of us receiving the support we need to make this big opportunity available for our children. Another helpful way is to look at this is not as an expense, but as an investment into your parenting vision, into retrieving the legacy your fathers and mothers left for your children, and into leaving an inheritance for your children and your children’s children.
4. How long will it take for my children to start speaking their mother tongue confidently?
From week 8 onwards is when we start working directly with your children, having laid the groundwork in the previous weeks. This is when you’ll start to really see your children speak their mother tongue with confidence.
5. What if my husband is deceased?
I'm so very deeply sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how painful it must feel to lose a husband. I'm sending you love. One of my most important goals is to pass on to you the tools and capacities you need to be able to magnetize the support and community you need to make the biggest difference with in this area of your child's life. You will be deeply supported through this process.
6. How can I be sure that only the right values will be passed on to my child?
I applaud your bold stand to protect your child from exposure to misaligned values, I feel your concern. This is very important to me as well, so I'm committed to tailoring this work only around the values that build our children up. I like to use Philippians 4:8 as a guide. At the same time, what I'll be sharing in the program is a method/process that you can tailor to yours and your child's unique wisdom, natural gifts, tastes, preferences, and values in order to create your vision. So you have complete control over what your child does or doesn't learn throughout this entire process.
7. But I'm not an education professional.
I am a certified Homeschool Educator, and I've broken these principles down into a simple step by step process you can start to apply immediately, where I'll be guiding you every step of the way.
8. I'm more of a logical person, will I manage the intuitive parts of this process?
Yes you will. There is space for logical planning in this process, and those plans are built on goals set from this deeper source of wisdom within you. This is the key to setting goals that feel easy and exciting to execute.
9. How will I balance this with my child's school term?
This method is designed to fit seamlessly into your child's everyday life. It will work flawlessly with your child's school term.
